About

A late bloomer, holding the camera

Fourteen years, two climates

From an LA yard to a Tennessee farm

Kaye and her mother

Kaye was taking pictures and shooting video long before she started gardening….late! That’s why she called her channel “Late Bloomer!” She started with an iPhone 3 and quickly went to an SLR that shoots video. 2011 videos and 13 million views later, and Kaye finds herself managing over 9 acres in the Tennessee countryside with first 5 cats, now 3, and an occasional helper. She immediately started carving out gardens on the rocky hillsides and after 6 exhausting, challenging, but rewarding years, she is finding that cutting back is necessary.

Most of the blogs on this site were written before Kaye left LA and acting behind. Late Bloomer Garden 1.0 was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire in 2025. Kaye’s lost her sister and mother and two cats, mentors and friends in these six years, but she’s still sharing inspiration, entertainment and education every week.

Stay tuned to the channel for the latest. Recently, she has begun posting a lot of YouTube Shorts videos, nothing fancy, no AI, no music, just pieces of the mosaic that a life in the country brings. Medicinal plants has been the big story since Kaye arrived on the property as they grow in abundance. Be sure and check out her Plant Medicine playlist and make your own medicine.

Late Bloomer seeks to entertain, enlighten and inspire the gardener and late bloomer in all of us.
