Late Bloomer – Arts & Ag – Part 3 – Episode 31 completes the trilogy Kaye shot over Memorial Day weekend in Hickman County, Tennessee. From locally grown foods and live music to handmade goods, the Arts & Ag Tour had it all! Kaye’s first stop is just outside Centerville, where she checks out antiques at April’s Attic, Fondue Vintage Homewares made with vintage wallpaper, and repurposed barn wood furniture and signs at Tom the Furniture Guy‘s workshop and showroom.

Then, Kaye heads nearby to Grinder’s Switch Winery to get a taste of their new Zephyr label. Grinder’s Switch is a location just outside of Centerville, which consisted, before Grinder’s Switch Winery, of little more than the railroad switch for which it was named. It was also the fictional home of country comic character Minnie Pearl. Today, Joey and Gail Chessor have developed a thriving business with their vineyard, country setting, tasting room and award-winning wines.

Then, the last stop, Leegacy Farm in Pleasantville, Tennessee, where three homesteaders were exhibiting, and two, The West Girls of Homestead Blessings, and the DeLadurantey Sisters of Eleganza Strings were singing and playing music.

With 25 stops on the tour, and only Saturday to visit, I couldn’t make them all, but I got a taste of everything Arts & Ag had to offer! Best pit stop was the Totty’s Bend Community Center for chocolate chess pie! I’ll be posting the recipe soon!

Just a word about volunteer spirit. It took three women, Antonia Meadors who runs Wild Duck Soup Emporium (headquarters of Arts & Ag), Vanessa Davis of Totty’s Bend Farm and Nicole Lewis of Fondue Vintage Homewares (see them here) to come up with the idea of the tour, and they have spent countless volunteer hours planning and promoting it. Hats off to a great team of ladies and numerous vendors for making Arts & Ag a success! Plan to visit Hickman County next year on Memorial Day for the third annual Arts & Ag Tour! Can’t wait? Their Harvest Market is coming up on October 19, 10AM-6PM! Thanks for watching! Is your small town promoting it’s own? Let us know how! – Kaye
